It does not matter if it’s for religious or inventive functions, ornamental crosses are well-liked items. If you need to use a decorative cross as an interior design accent but cannot afford a purchase from a store, there are many different paths to create decorative crosses at home. You can use wood, clay, paper, glass, metal, plastic or almost anything else to make a cross. To make a moderately easy and fancy decorative cross, you want to make a 2- to 3-foot tall wooden cross that’s 1-in. thick.
Spread the newspaper over a flat functioning surface and place the wood cross flat on the paper. Use the ruler plus pencil to make straight vertical lines across the decorative cross. Space the lines half-in. apart, beginning within the middle of the cross body and going outward along each arm. This wll create a vertical striped pattern on the cross with long lines down the center and short lines on the arms.
Use a small hand saw to evenly cut the line marks just about one/3-inch deep into the decorative cross. Lightly sand the wood cross to be certain every one of the surfaces are smooth. Don’t sand away the stripes. Dust the sawdust from the cross with a rag.
Cover the wood with an even layer of metallic gold spray paint. Let the paint soak into the cuts to make a refined, striped pattern on the wood. Make certain to paint the skinny sides of the cross as well. Let the paint dry.
Take a metal or plastic gold bead along with a one-in. diameter plus use superglue to secure it along the one-inch thick side of the decorative cross. Repeat method until beads are secured around the entire edge of the cross. Let the glue dry.
Make a small bead cross within the middle-front of the ornamental cross using 9 beads to make the vertical line with three beads on each side to create the horizontal line. Once you are aware of the precise placement needed, glue the beads to the wood. Let the glue dry.
Cover the wood plus beads along with a light layer of gold spray paint and let the paint dry. The additional coat makes the wood color solid, disguises superglue stains and covers the beads to take away any scratches
